I Miss Doing Live Sketch Shows
I’m going to be honest. In the beginning, the hardest part of the quarantine was not doing live shows anymore. Live events period. I miss them all. I missed performing on stage and I missed seeing my friends and community members.
Right now, I’m just reflecting back on all the live shows I’ve done and the amazing times I’ve had. The majority of them were not videotaped. So you had to be there.
Fortunately, we got a few live shows on video. This show right here was done at the Heraldo Show on 04/29/19 at Second City. It came during a period where I produced with the Pachanga and Moonshot (my POC Pack House Sketch Team) 4 LIVE SKETCH SHOWS in a month. Or something bonkers like that. What was I on back then?
This show is definitely a hidden gem because we put it together relatively quick and there was no expectation going into it. And sometimes those are the best shows, the ones you don’t expect to remember but will never forget once it’s over.
I’m glad that my good friend Juanito Velasco set this up for us both as a stage opportunity and for filming it. He’s been a friend to the Pachanga (and to me!) and we’re very lucky to know such incredible Latinx improvisers who lift up their people whenever they can.
